Quote of the Day

There are moments when one has to choose between living one's own life, fully, entirely, completely - or dragging out some false, shallow, degrading existence that the world in it's hypocrisy demands.

Faith - It’s A Beautiful Thing

Today was my first day volunteering at the Shiv Ji Mandir.. I saw something there which will always have an effect on me. This young girl, probably giving her MCAT’s in 2 weeks, was talking to the pandit. The way she was talking to him, the way she believed that everything’ll be alright, the way they connected was an amazing sight.

Every now and then there comes a moment in life when something so astounding happens that you don’t have words to describe it. Today was one of those days. Today everyone’s arguing about religion. Which one’s better, which is worse. I’m not here to discuss that. I don’t care what religion you are. What that girl showed me was that all you need is faith. Faith in God, faith in a person, faith in something you truly believe in.

The world today is so skeptical. We never actually just believe in something. We never have faith in people, we are doubtful. Why? Why do we question everything? I do regret that at times I have myself questioned God. Why can’t I have the faith that others have? Why can’t we just believe. Period.

In the long run I think we can all learn something from that girl. Believe, have faith in something, and it’ll make you happy. Like it made her happy when the pandit said she’ll do good on the tests.

I don’t know if this post makes sense. As I’ve said, neither am I good at expressing my feelings nor was it one of those moments which you can describe. I think you have to experience it to believe it. But just a suggestion, have faith. In God, in family, in friends. In the end, it’ll make you happy.

Having faith is not at all a bad thing. However, think of the situation… now the girl’s all happy and content and possibly confident about her exams and that God will be there to guide her through. But when the results come out, she finds out she’s done horribly?

Secondly, faith is good, but not in excess. Blind faith leads to lack of intellectual growth, in my opinion. It’s best to have an open mind and see all the options, and then, if possible, have faith in one thing.

That’s the problem. Why can’t you assume that she’ll do good? Why the negative thoughts? Why not have faith?

Every day, my faith in the Lord drops to a new Low.

One say “God helps those who help themselves”, well then if you study you will pass if you don’t you wont, so where will God come and help.

Plus all the stuff that goes on the name of Religion has led me to this one big conclusion “Religion WAS, IS & WILL be the BIGGEST SCAM EVER”

Because I’m a cynical bastard :P
And more importantly, I can easily assume that she does well, and God helped her, and faith forever! HURRAH! But that’s the good ending. I’m talking about ALL possibilities, even the not good ones.

I know that all possibilities include doing bad, but the first thing that comes to our mind is the bad one. Why not the good one? because somehow we’ve lost all faith.

@ Babu…you may not believe in Religion but you may believe in God?

I am not an atheist. I just have lost trust in RELIGION.

And as far as faith in the above scenario goes, one must have faith in oneself. If you don’t have that, its a sure shot recipe for doom.

So you do believe in God.

Then have faith in God without the strands of Religion?

The faith in Lord is there but at an all time low I must add. Its gone up a bit over the last 10 days, maybe because life is going as I wanted to and had asked God to help a bit. But its no where near to what it was just 5 years ago.

No. The first one that comes to our mind is the bad one because that’s the one that challenges faith. The good possibility is something that just agrees with the current order of things. The bad possibility is something that the current order must survive. The bad possibility is what created alternate paths, on which ultimately, all development rests (not just faith)

@ Babu: Life is full of ups and downs. Without trough there wouldn’t be a crest. It’d just be a line. To lose faith when needed most is wrong.

Well, I had faith in God during my worst period, but nothing happened. But when things started falling in place it was time when I had already lost much of my faith. Another thing that might have contributed to this has to be my growing belief in the fact that Religion is a scam, and faith in God is highly inter-linked with religion.

I might be a very open book, but when it comes to understanding me with regards to religion and god is way too tough (as I myself have to figure out where I stand)

God doesn’t have to be related to Religion. We associate him/her with Religion, but in short, God could be anyone you want him/her to be.

I myself and still skeptical about religion, so God for me is a divine power with some of the powers that Religion gives him, but also other things which Religion relate to him I reject.

In short, God is your hero, doesn’t have to be everyone else’s.

I believe in Faith as much as the next guy but i do not rely on it i dont think you can I am a really religous person so when something bad happens im always told it happened for a reason theres some plan god has for us all. Well ive been tested alot in my life which has changed alot of my outlooks on life. God is my hero without him i dont believe i could do anything even though im mad when he “tests” me i thank him when he gives me something worthy of thanks. Having faith is a great thing just dont take it to far remember that you cant just have faith but you must be prepared for anything/everything.
