Quote of the Day

There are moments when one has to choose between living one's own life, fully, entirely, completely - or dragging out some false, shallow, degrading existence that the world in it's hypocrisy demands.

CompuWorld - A Review

CompuWorld is hosting a competition where people have to write a review for the site and in return get a backlink. Not only that, but the winner gets a 125X125 Ad spot in the sidebar. So I thought I’d give it a shot.

At the very moment I went on the site, I was confused like a mad man. I really couldn’t find where the topic started, where the header was. It’s like a ad fest there without any organization. My best opinion would be to either decrease the ad text size or increase the header text size because they look too much alike. They are the same color and almost the same size (I think the header size is small ). Additionally, one of the things I hate is when sites have those annoying full page advertisements that come on the page out of nowhere. Sadly, this site had it all. I was in the middle of reading one of his articles (I think 17 Firefox Extensions for Bloggers) when the full page advertisement flashed out of nowhere. To me, that was a huge turn-off. It annoys me when that happens because you loose your train of thought.

Additionally, what’s up with the Sidebar? Why is it so out of place? I mean there is just this huge gap there unfilled which could help move the Sidebar to the right. The crampy sidebar and the ads all over the place really killed the experience for me. My advice would be to reduce some ads and get a new theme, maybe even a simpler one.

Positives After sifting through all the advertisements and the sidebar, once you get down to the content, it’s an amazing site. As stated, I was reading the 17 extensions for FF and it was worth the read. I also read the article about the “life of a hacker” and even though the blog owner himself didn’t write it, it was nice to see it on the site.

Final Verdict: My final verdict would be that by reducing some advertisements on the site and by changing the theme, the site could have a better payout for the owner. The content is nice, but the way it is displayed is not so entertaining.
