I’m holding my first contest on this blog finally. I’ve recently been able to get the resources to hold a contest, so here I am.
As the topic header blatantly says, “give me your best pick up lines” and I’ll give the winner $20. Make a post on your blog, link to my homepage with anchor text “The King Speaks” and this post and just do the best you can.
Just some rules and guidelines:
1) Please make them original. I know there are 100’s of pick up lines out there, but honestly I’ve red most of them and it wouldn’t make you win. You still can post them, just for the back link.
2) You must give at least 1 and maximum 3 pick up lines. Best will win.
3) As mentioned earlier, each entrant (person who enters) will get a back link from my blog. I know I don’t have the best Technorati ranking or the best PR, but hey, a back link’s a back link.
4) There should be at least 30 participants and/or the contest will run till either last week of Oct or first week of Nov, otherwise it’s useless. I need the pick up lines guys.
Once you’ve made the post, comment here, drop me a line at TheKing[at]Thekingspeaks[dot]com and I’ll write back to you confirming your entry. Good luck, and may the best pick up line win. A special thanks goes to The Prize Blog. Also, a very very special thanks to Contest Blogger. He’s helped me a lot, his website is awesome, he’s an awesome person himself. Can’t express enough gratitude towards him.

With all their bling bling and what not. Honestly, I haven’t seen such good looking earphones ever. Go over at Fiddy P Blog and check out the various designs. Though I don’t know which one of those the person is offering as the prize, I’ll take any one of them, they all look so good.
One of the requirements for the blog is to mention one of the authors Wordpress Plugins. I have to say that I’m impressed by this person’s skills. Not only did he just give an awesome contest, but he also gave me a good new plugin. I still have to see if it works or not. Check it out here.
This should be a 100 words.

TylerCruz.com, the Internet Entrepreneur, is giving away a free back link for a mere review of 200 words or less. Hell this is 20 words already.
As soon as the site loaded, I could tell what the blog was all about, which means that it passes the 5 second rule. The 5 second rule states that it should take 5 seconds or less to figure out what the site is all about (it’s one of those “pro blogger” things). I clearly saw what the site was about and liked the way the site was presented. Unlike other blogs, this theme has clear definition of sidebar and they are not imposing themselves onto the content of the site. Additionally, there aren’t a lot of advertisements thrown at the reader. Even though they are there, they do not disturb the reader.
One thing I disliked about the site was that comments were closed and you had to Register (i.e. create an account) to post a comment. To be honest, even though it might take 10 seconds to create (which the blog claims) I’m not wasting those 10 seconds of my life creating an account on a site which I may never as well come back to ever again. I think such action (as in to make people register) blocks the comments which can be posted. People need to understand that we’re lazy, otherwise we’d be playing football instead of sitting on the computer.

CompuWorld is hosting a competition where people have to write a review for the site and in return get a backlink. Not only that, but the winner gets a 125X125 Ad spot in the sidebar. So I thought I’d give it a shot.
At the very moment I went on the site, I was confused like a mad man. I really couldn’t find where the topic started, where the header was. It’s like a ad fest there without any organization. My best opinion would be to either decrease the ad text size or increase the header text size because they look too much alike. They are the same color and almost the same size (I think the header size is small ). Additionally, one of the things I hate is when sites have those annoying full page advertisements that come on the page out of nowhere. Sadly, this site had it all. I was in the middle of reading one of his articles (I think 17 Firefox Extensions for Bloggers) when the full page advertisement flashed out of nowhere. To me, that was a huge turn-off. It annoys me when that happens because you loose your train of thought.
Additionally, what’s up with the Sidebar? Why is it so out of place? I mean there is just this huge gap there unfilled which could help move the Sidebar to the right. The crampy sidebar and the ads all over the place really killed the experience for me. My advice would be to reduce some ads and get a new theme, maybe even a simpler one.
Positives After sifting through all the advertisements and the sidebar, once you get down to the content, it’s an amazing site. As stated, I was reading the 17 extensions for FF and it was worth the read. I also read the article about the “life of a hacker” and even though the blog owner himself didn’t write it, it was nice to see it on the site.
Final Verdict: My final verdict would be that by reducing some advertisements on the site and by changing the theme, the site could have a better payout for the owner. The content is nice, but the way it is displayed is not so entertaining.

Every few months, Google updates is Page Ranks. Now these page ranks are very important to bloggers. The better the page rank, the better of a blog you are (or they say that, I don’t necessarily believe that.) I’ve been waiting for my page Rank too, Google dropped it last time :(.
So just for the fun of it, I’ve entered a competition at RyanShamus.com where you have to guess the next update, and if you guess them right, you’ll get free stuff. Personally, I like prize number three. Maybe prize number two and the least prize number 1. The rules are pretty much simple, it’s based in tickets and the closeness of your answer.
Wish me luck.
