Quote of the Day

There are moments when one has to choose between living one's own life, fully, entirely, completely - or dragging out some false, shallow, degrading existence that the world in it's hypocrisy demands.

Ah, to be young again. We’re all so innocent, maybe that’s where all the hope we have comes from. Just thought it was a funny video, so I’m going to post it here.

How would you raise your child?

Whenever I see little kids on the street I often wonder how they are being raised? Being in a school of 4000 something, you get to see people brought up in all the different kind of ways. There’s the people who are always depressed, the very hyper ones, the liberals, the conservatives, the I’m right or you’re wrong ones. You see everyone. What gets me thinking is what all these people were taught about life at a young age. Pessimism? Optimism?

At times when I watch cartoons or I see an advertisement for a children’s toy, I wonder whether these materials are bringing a false sense of security to these kids. We’re brought up thinking that the world is a beautiful place where the people are nice and helpful. Are we making them think that the world’s all cheerful when in reality it’s quite depressing at times? Are we just setting them up for disappointment by telling them that there’s a Santa Clause or an Easter Bunny? Why do we talk of magic and fairy and little cute elves when these things don’t exist? Why do we not tell them straight up how life is, hard and painstaking?

But then again, if we do tell children all these things from a young age, will they grow up to be sad and depressed, wondering whether life is worth it or not? In the end, there are some things in life which make it worth living, but will they see that? How do you find the balance between giving the child hope and also at the same time get them ready for the hardships of life? I guess that’s what parenting is all about.

But I just wonder, how would my kid be? Liberal or Conservative? Hopefully somewhere in between.

The Clouds

The clouds look beautiful, soaring high and generously donating shade to the sea beneath. All oddly shaped, yet very soothing. It’s a totally different look from up here; the clouds seem so much more alive, so full of life. I just saw a cloud, standing above the others. It seemed to reach out to touch the plane, to touch me. So close, yet so far. But in a way it did, how I don’t know.

It’s hard to explain in words how it feels to be here, above the world. The feeling is exhilarating, almost magical. It’s quite here, no buses, cars, only the small noise of the plane’s engine. I’d rather have it on than off. XM satellite radio playing, with songs I like. I see another big cloud now, but this time it looks like one of those pyramids shaped like a cat sitting down. I think the clouds look beautiful, wishing I could stay up here as I fly past them counting down the time before I have to land again.

Here comes the land. “Please keep your trays in the upright position.” I guess I have to stop writing, here comes the land. Oh! The treacherous land.

A Hardworking Man in Rage!

I read these words from my friend Phil’s AIM profile. For some reason, I can associate with them and found them inspiring. Obviously with his permission, I thought you all might like to read it as well.

After years of spiritual solitude, after doing enormous amount of work, after you left your dearest friends behind and come to a new land to seek opportunity, after enduring the most excruciating pain, after the heartbreaking moment of leaving your love 10 thousand miles behind, after you worked your ass off getting that 5th place in an international piano competition with 800 participants, after investing hundreds of thousands of dollars in education, after doing the most epic AP American notes with 200 pages singe spaced, after involuntarily taking 4 AP classes, after spending hundreds of hours on preparing SAT, after oppressing your most wanted desires, after …… After you have done EVERYTHING Attempting to achieve just a Little thing you want, just this Little thing, and you find out that the chances of succeeding is 0.00094%, you might wonder, what is GOD, if such creature exists, treating you so harshly? What is the purpose of life when everyone is born unequally, what is the logic of the world when some people can do NOTHING and have EVERYTHING just because they are born rich, while Others have to work their asses off, do everything possible, and their chances of succeeding is so small? WHY?

Figuratively speaking, I AM THE FUCKING BEST STUDENT IN THIS SCHOOL. I am the person who can take 4 AP’s and get E on every single one of the courses, who can squeeze 3 HOURS everyday to practice piano and become so professional that he can play some of the hardest pieces ever composed, who can easily get into Julliard pro-college, who can be fluent in a language within 3 months, and take AP English and get 99 on it. I BEAR THE BURDEN OF 100 MEN! I AM THE EPIC HERO!!

But Why? Why did God raise him so high above and just throw him down to the ground with such momentum with no warning, no mercy, no reason? People say that God works in mysterious ways , I SAY that God doesn’t work at all, he is the bastard who plays people’s lives as if they were toys.

Well then, if the right is wrong, then i guess the wrong is right. “Better to reign in HELL than to serve in Heaven!” - John Milton (Paradise Lost).

What is love?

What is love?
But a cool summer breeze
What is love?
But a soft kiss on the cheek
What is love?
But words you cannot speak

What is love?
But a rose in the middle of nowhere
What is love?
But two doves together
What is love?
But touch of a silky feather

What is love?
But a sweet melody or tune
What is love?
But a funny looking cloud
What is love?
But saying “I love you” out loud

What is love?
But a delicious exotic fruit
What is love?
But a walk in the park
What is love?
But light in the dark

What is love?
But a poem that may not rhyme
What is love?
But giving each other nicknames
What is love?
Love is me and you together.
