Quote of the Day

There are moments when one has to choose between living one's own life, fully, entirely, completely - or dragging out some false, shallow, degrading existence that the world in it's hypocrisy demands.

Good Advertising

We’ve all been victims of bad advertising haven’t we? Whether it’s the P.C. vs. Mac video or the Vista WOW advertisement. But on a rare occasion, along comes an advertising which makes you want to actually buy the product. A clear example of such would be the priceless Mastercard Advertisement.

I was looking through news today and I found this interesting advertisement. Even though their idea wasn’t extra-ordinary, the way they pulled it off was not only hilarious but also very productive. A zoo in Germany called Neunkirchen wanted to raise their attendance and what they came up with is this slogan “Come to the zoo before the zoo comes to you.” Even though the statement itself might seem very cliche, it worked effectively as it raised their attendance by 15% compared to an average month. What made the slogan so creative? The accompanying dog.

Questionable Content: My New Addiction

For the past few days I’ve been addicted to this comic called Questionable Content which is basically about a guy and his normal life. Even though the things that go on the guys life are not normal, I can see a parallel to them in my own life. I think what makes such comics interesting is the connection you can make with your own life.

I questioned people who watched Soap Operas because I believe they were stupid. But now that I think about it, isn’t this comic strip like a Soap Opera, obviously without the horrible background music and the continuously annoying zoom-in angles. In reality the reason deep down inside people watch Soap Operas would be the fact that they see themselves in the character. My point is, I think I finally understand why people love Soap Operas. And as hard as it is for me to admit it, I think I’m hooked to one myself. This comic strip might not be a Soap Opera, but it has all the characteristics of one. A story with a guy who wants a girl but can’t get her.

It’s just surprising how I used to loathe such basic story plots but I fell for the same thing, only in cartoon form. Raise Eyebrow

Anyways, moving along from the self - realizations, I know that I haven’t been writing a lot of posts lately but somehow I just can’t find any inspiration to write something beautiful. But that’s no excuse, and I promise to try harder. Like always, when I can’t update the blog through posts, I update the look of my site. I’ve added a Country Counter on the side and removed the Youtube video. It’s hard to find quality Youtube Videos nowadays with so much out there. Plus, I love to show off the different countries from whom people have visited my blog.

Y! Chat - Now Built into Email

Yahoo recently released it chat built into its email. At first I was a little skeptical since I thought they were just copying Google. But if think about it, they’re just trying to provide their customers with the best service out there. It’s really the competition that makes them improve themselves. Better for us Celebrating 4On the whole, I think it’s a very good service. Not too many drawbacks, and those that are, are mostly minor. So here’s my review:

Nice Setup: I like the way it is merges into your email. I mean one minute you’re checking your email and the next talking to a old buddy who you haven’t talked to since you were 5. Unlike the external Yahoo application, you don’t have to change windows to chat and check email. Another plus feature of this would be that you can just ctrl+tab to another tab in a browser supporting tabs (wow… I think I’ll put the word tab in there again huh? TAB). On the other hand, for those of us who hate using the mouse when you’re relaxing and use the Alt+Tab a lot, this can cause a problem. As of now, I have not found a keyboard shortcut to change between the different chat tabs. So I have to use the mouse, which is a drawback I guess.
