Wow… life’s become so hectic. This past week has been a mixture of fun and work. More of the work side though. So the week started out normal, well it was pajama day in school and I wore sweat pants, pretty much the same thing in my dictionary. And then came along Tuesdays. It was Halloween. OMG. Now that’s what I call a fun day. I mean seriously, that’s what makes life worth living. Me and my friends dressed up. My friend and I, Anastasis, spray painted our hair pink. Now if anyone reading this knows, I would never do that. I mean, it’s just not me. But somehow, since it was Halloween, I did, and for once I enjoyed wearing pink. I know I know you all want to see me with my hair all weird, just keep your pants on. The album will be added at the end of this post. Hold it in till then please.

Now many of you must be eager to know how my PSAT’s and D.A. office thing went. Well that was yesterday and it seemed good. I was a bit tired, and the D.A.’s office was a little boring. But on the whole, I had fun!!! We are going to talk about common issues that the state or national government faces, like abortion, etc and we will discuss them and analyze them in depth. The best part about going there was me wearing a suit and tie. Well I didn’t have the coat on, but still looked pretty good. I am adding some pictures to it, but only one, the rest you can see in the album. Additionally, people consider the PSAT’s really important. But this could be a common misconception because the SAT’s are important but the PSAT’s are only important if you get in the top 2 percentile. Meaning that if your in the 2 percent of the kids who did really well, only then will you get the scholarship. Otherwise, colleges don’t even look at your scores. But I guess I have to be the one in the top 2%. Wish me luck guys!!! Pic Below

Someone very wise said, “When shit hits the fan, it splatters all over the place.” Or something like that, but we get the point. So recently, life’s been a lil’ bitch. Yes, I used an obscenity but it’s just to express my true feelings. The past week of school has been really stressful, and I hope everything turns out well.
So first of all, I get to represent my school, Francis Lewis in the District Attorneys office, once a month. This is a great opportunity for me, if I want to become a lawyer, or go in that field, which I do. But that’s exactly when THE SHIT HIT THE FAN!!! See in the beginning, I was going to miss my math class once a month and everything seemed to work out well. But then the head of the math department believed it wouldn’t be right if I missed it once a month. ONCE A MONTH I REPEAT. (more…)

That’s right folks, school has finally started. But this time, it ain’t as sweet as last year. I’m a junior this year, or in other words, 11th grader. And I have a period 1 - 9 schedule, which means my first class starts at 7:26. Yup, 7:26 in the freaking morning. I have to wake up @ 5:30 which sucks big time. Take a shower, blah blah blah and get going. One thing good in all this is that I at least get free breakfast from school. YEAH!!!![]()
So this I wake up in this morning, feeling all bad coz it was too early. I got over that soon, since I was on the bus talking and cracking jokes with my friends. So I reach the cafeteria thinking I would get something to eat. But I learnt that they don’t open it till 7. So we wait, as soon as the clock hits 7, there was a long line in front of the kitchen. My friends and I were too lazy to stand there, so we waited a while. In sometime, we see the lines cleared up, so we go there to get some… food that is. As soon as we return and start eating, the bell rings and it’s time to go. I took a bite out of the muffin, which was delicious by the way, and took my juice pack. I drank it while I was on my way to my first class. PHYSICS. From here on, the day wasn’t that bad. Don’t want to get into details. I have a few friends in each class, except for Spanish. All freshmen, pshhh. And there’s a kid whos’ in 4 of my 9 classes, and that to back to back. WEIRD!!!
So i get out finally, and i rush into the bus. My friends and I crack some more jokes, and I’m home. My head is splitting due to a headache, so I eat food and just go to sleep. That pretty much explains my day. Now I’m here, posting away, wondering how often I shall post from now on.
Curse The SCHOOL.

Throughout my life I’ve been moving from place to place because of my father’s job. It has its ups and downs. One of the key differences in both the places is education. Now as far as I’ve seen, there is a huge difference that it takes some time to adjust. The U.S and Indian education systems are completely different. And that’s what I’m here to write about. This post was long overdue and someone even requested it (Don’t tell this to anyone but it was Aman :D) And as I was getting bored I thought I might just complete this. So here it is:
I may warn you that my experience is limited to only NY education department because each state has its own department. But many things are similar for all the states.
Compulsory and voluntary: One major difference is that finishing 12th grade is compulsory and not like India where it is only till 5th or 8th grade. Now some people argue that U.S. education system is very low but I think otherwise. In its defense I would argue that it doesn’t cost anything. I mean our government schools which are free aren’t good either. If you go to one I would assume that you know less than US students. Plus how much does the Indian government enforce students to go to these schools. Well U.S. students have to go to school. If you don’t go to school they call your parents and force you to go school. US government takes it very seriously. And the schools are pretty good too. On one hand the state pays for your education, while on the other hand your parents do.
